A wonderful parent just asked for my recommendations for a family read this summer for a road-trip. I was so honored that they asked my opinion. I am a complete podcast junkie and have also started to get into audiobooks. Here are some of my recommendations:

• Levar Burton Reads (Reading Rainbow for Grown Ups and Almost Grown Ups)
• Hidden Brain (frequently interesting for kids, too.)

• Caliphate from NYTimes
• Lexicon Valley (If you love words and their power, this one is for you.)
• 1-3-20 By Daniel Pink (One interviewee, three questions, twenty minutes.)

Great Family Reads (these are in book form, but I bet there might be audiobooks, too.)

• Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk (Also, Wolf Hollow)
• Funny in Farsi (tweens and up)

Audiobooks for Adults

• Educated by Tara Westover
• Forged in Crisis by Nancy Koehn (if you have LONG car rides, this one is for you. It profiles five historical leaders but it has about 20 chapters/leader.)
• In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About it by Lauren Graham (it only takes 20 minutes!)
• Tom Sawyer narrated by Nick Offerman (!)
• The Book of Joy by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Bishop Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams
